Overview

Sariska Tiger Reserve, located in the Alwar district of Rajasthan, is a prominent wildlife sanctuary and a part of India's Project Tiger initiative. Located in the Aravalli Hills, Sariska combines dry deciduous forests, grasslands, rocky terrain and valleys, providing an excellent outdoor classroom for studying wildlife, biodiversity, food chains, habitats and conservation. This educational excursion offers students an opportunity to explore wildlife, forest ecosystems, conservation efforts and the rich biodiversity of the Aravalli region.

Best Time to Visit

October to March: Pleasant weather makes this period particularly suitable for school groups and outdoor field activities. November to February is best for school groups as cooler temperatures make a full-day educational excursion more comfortable. April to June: Excellent for wildlife observation as animals may be more likely to visit water sources, but temperatures can become very high. July to September: Not preferred for a standard school safari programme as monsoon conditions can restrict safari operations.

Why Do This Tour? – Benefits to Students

1Real-Life Wildlife Education – Students experience a living ecosystem rather than learning about wildlife only from textbooks.
2Understand Biodiversity – Students observe relationships between plants, herbivores, carnivores, birds, insects and decomposers.
3Learn About Tigers – Students understand that tiger conservation depends on protecting the entire ecosystem, not just the tiger itself.
4Study Food Chains – A simple field-based example: Plants → Deer/Wild Boar → Tiger/Leopard.
5Learn About Adaptation – Students can discuss how plants and animals adapt to heat, water scarcity, seasonal changes, dry forests and rocky terrain.
6Develop Observation Skills – Students learn to identify animal footprints, bird calls, vegetation, water sources, animal behaviour and habitat characteristics.
7Understand Conservation – The visit introduces students to protected areas, wildlife management, habitat protection, human-wildlife conflict and anti-poaching efforts.
8Study Aravalli Geography – Sariska provides a practical environment to understand hills, valleys, rocky outcrops, forest distribution, water sources and semi-arid landscapes.
9Environmental Awareness – Students learn why they should avoid plastic, never feed animals, maintain silence, stay inside designated areas and respect wildlife.
10Scientific Curiosity – Students can investigate questions such as: Why do tigers need large territories? Why are deer important to the ecosystem? Why do birds prefer particular habitats? Why are waterholes important?
11Teamwork & Discipline – A safari requires students to stay together, follow instructions, maintain silence, respect the guide and cooperate with classmates.
12Experiential Learning – The tour connects Biology + Geography + Environmental Science + Wildlife + Conservation + Outdoor Education.
